About Measure L
Vote YES on L to continue outstanding student achievement by protecting academic programs and retaining qualified teachers in local classrooms.
Thanks to Pacifica voters, our neighborhood schools have made great strides in academic achievement because of local education funding local voters approved in 2008. In fact, all of our Pacifica schools exceed California’s benchmark for excellence in student test scores on statewide exams.
Your YES vote on Measure L is critical. Measure L will renew local funding for Pacifica schools, which will expire soon. Our schools need Measure L for stable, local funding that can’t be taken away by the State.
Measure L will:
- Protect math, science, reading and writing programs
- Attract and retain qualified teachers and staff
- Support school library programs
- Maintain programs to support struggling students
- Support student learning in computers and technology
Fiscal Accountability
- All funds will stay in Pacifica—the State can’t take a single penny
- Funds cannot be used for administrators’ salaries
- Independent citizen oversight and annual reports will ensure funds are spent as promised
- Senior citizens can receive an exemption
Measure L is more important than ever. We all know we can’t rely on Sacramento to support Pacifica schools. The State has cut $1.7 million, or 10% of our schools’ budget, over the past four years.
Outstanding teachers give students the top-notch educational foundation needed to excel in high school, college and future 21st-century careers. Without Measure L, our schools will be forced to lay off 13 teachers, increase class sizes and reduce academic programs.
Great neighborhood schools make Pacifica a desirable place to live, protecting property values for all of us, even if we don’t have children in school.
Join Pacifica community leaders, elected officials, realtors, seniors, teachers and parents—vote YES on Measure L.
